History

I never thought that I would see this happen! I am so very proud to be an American! I always have been very Patriotic, but today...especially so!!!

Today, our Country has a new African American President! It is amazing and wonderful & Historic!! I delayed school a bit today so that Dakota & I could watch the Inauguration together. Trying to explain to a 6 year old how incredible this moment is, was a task though! :) When I told him that there has never before been a Black or Brown President, he looked at me with this puzzled look....and said "Why not?". Exactly! I am so happy that my son will never know an America so divided by race.

I am a Republican. I did not vote for this President. I don't agree with everything that he stands for, however, I did not necessarily agree with everything that President Bush did either. I will support & pray for President Obama. I will do so because I believe that is what God wants us to do for our Leaders. They need our respect, our support, & our prayers.

I may not have voted for him, but he is now My President. May God Bless Him, protect him, & give him wisdom.

Stand Tall America! Even if you didn't vote for this President. Stand Tall! The lines of racism have been lifted! Be Proud America! This day should be celebrated!

While the inauguration was happening, my son said "Mommy, you know what I am going to be when I grow up? President!!"

That's right son....dream BIG! Today has proven once and for all.....ANYONE CAN BE!!

Lazy....ummmmm...Laid Back Weekend

This weekend was very relaxing!! We did a lot of lounging, watching various TV programs, playing on the computer & just plain vegging out! You might call it laziness....but these kind of weekends are welcomed in the Brown household!! :)

My wonderful mother in law came over on Saturday and stayed with us until Monday. We got a TON of snow on Saturday. Sunday we went outside & shoveled & played. While Brian, Dakota & I were outside, my mother in law took some pics. She then made a slide show set to music (one of my favorites from the 80's!!!).

Here's the slide show ... ignore my no make-up/tousled hair look... like I said, it was a laid back type of weekend! ;0)

2009

Ok...so it's been a while! It seems like the first couple of weeks of 2009 have flown right by!

This is what the New Year has brought thus far....

* Windshield wipers stopped working...during the big snow storm, I might add!

* Refrigerator started leaking (same day that I took the car to the shop!)

* Bought new refrigerator....new refrigerator doors not installed properly...lovely, eh? Now they must be fixed!

* Found 2nd leak in our roof in 2 months! Ice Dam due to lovely MI weather

Every one of these things actually happened since Monday of this week! LOL Yes, it's been quite the week! But, there are also good things that are happening, have happened, or I know will happen this year!

* I spent New Years Eve Day welcoming my newest Great Nephew into the world! Blake was born via an emergency C-Section & his mommy & daddy are so grateful to have a healthy little boy. They lost their son Caden at 15 months old last April to a tragic accident. Blake is a blessing that came throughout the storm, & I pray that he brings them much joy & happiness!!

* HomeSchool is going marvelously! Dakota is really thriving & loves to learn!! He is already learning how to read sentences!!

* We have decided to try a new Church. I am so happy for answered prayer in this situation!!!

* Brian and I both are getting fit & healthy!

In the midst of the trials that come, I know that there is always something that I can be thankful for. My loving Heavenly Father in Heaven who always provides, always encourages, & always loves us!! I am thankful that on December 23, 1990 the Lord sent me my Soulmate. The ONE person that he had hand chosen for me. He knew exactly what kind of man I needed & gave him to me. When I am weak, he holds me up...makes me smile. He laughs with me, cries with me, listens when I need to vent. He is such a rock in my life. I am so fortunate that he is mine & I am his.

He has been there for me so many times throughout the years & tomorrow & this weekend, I will try my best to be there for him. To be his rock...his person to lean on & sit with....be still with. It was 8 years ago tomorrow that my husband lost his brother, Randy. Randy was very sick & needed heart & lung transplants & did not make it. He died way to soon. I can not imagine what Brian has gone through or continues to go through as I have not had any siblings die. I know that it has cut him deeply. The Lord has definitely made him stronger throughout the years that have gone by, and I am thankful for that...but it is still very very difficult.

Please pray for Brian & his family this weekend, especially tomorrow, if you think of it. I know that they would really appreciate it.

"B", you are always the rock...the one who holds everyone else together....I want to be that for you now.

"I will be here When you feel like being quiet When you need to speak your mind I will listen And I will be here When the laughter turns to cryin' Through the winning, losing and trying We'll be together I will be here"

In memory of my Brother in Law, Randy Brown
